McDonald said GFS has committed to spending $2.1 million on Trotwood’s Salem Avenue location to make room for more vegetables, baked goods, meats, in-store rotisserie and roasted chicken as well as produce.
Word of the agreement came from the mayor on Friday. She and a delegation of city officials traveled to Detroit to see a GFS store layout that would be similar to the Trotwood location and meet with GFS officials.
As part of the project, the city of Trotwood has agreed to build a turn lane into the Salem Avenue location from state Route 49 for easier access.
The delegation, which included City Manager Quincy Pope and Trotwood Community Improvement Corp. officials, was returning to Trotwood on Friday evening.
