Vandalia city manager to resign; police chief to serve as interim

Vandalia City Manager Jon Crusey submitted his resignation Monday evening to the city council.

Crusey’s resignation will be effective on Friday, July 3.

The Vandalia city council has appointed Police Chief Kurt Althouse to serve as interim city manager while the search for a new city manager is conducted the city announced in a release.

Crusey previously served at city manager in Tipp City. He came to Vandalia in April of 2014, retired in 2017 and was rehired to the same position.

“I’m proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish in Vandalia,” Crusey stated in the release. “We have made great strides in economic and community development, and I’m confident Vandalia will have the same types of success moving forward.”
