Vehicle Crashes Into Local School

SPRINGFIELD, Ohio-- A vehicle with three children onboard crashed against the front of Perrin Woods Elementary School Thursday afternoon.

The incident occurred around 3:20, shortly after dismissal.

Springfield Battalion Chief March Lloyd said the male driver had a “medical issue” which caused him to drive the black Dodge Durango into the brick wall of the schoo The three children, two Perrin Woods students and one infant, were not injured. The school building sustained minor damage.

The driver was transported to Springfield Regional Medical Center. Lloyd said it was unclear if the driver suffered any injuries besides the initial medical problem.

Lloyd added the children were transported to the hospital to meet their mother.

The identity of the driver has not been released.
