The northbound lanes will remain closed for another 30 to 60 minutes as a Miami County hazmat crew mops up diesel from the semitrailer’s saddlebag tanks, he said.
The passenger vehicles ended up off the interstate after the accident; cable wires stopped the semitrailer from entering the southbound lanes, Pemberton said.
Accumulating ice and steady snowfall are covering the interstate and those elements likely contributed to the accident, he said.
INITIAL REPORT
A semitrailer reportedly has jackknifed on I-75 North, north of Troy in Miami County, and is leaking fuel.

A hazmat unit has been dispatched because there is a report the leak involves an estimated 100 gallons.
We have not heard about any injuries.
A dispatcher with the Ohio State Highway Patrol post in Piqua said the state patrol is trying to respond to reports of several crashes in the area. The dispatcher also said one of the trooper’s units in that area is reporting icy roads and bridges.
We have a crew on the way and we will update this developing report.
