Single-car crash shuts down Gettysburg Avenue in Dayton

Update@4:49 a.m.:

The northbound lane of Gettysburg Avenue has reopened now that the wrecked vehicle has been towed away. The southbound lane will remain closed until the power pole is replaced.

Officials have not said how long it will take to replace the pole.

The driver suffered non-life threatening injuries, and she was able to get out of the vehicle on her own, said Dayton police Sgt. Doug George.

She was sitting of the curb when crews arrived at the scene, George said, adding that there were no passengers in the vehicle.

The car struck a power pole and a tree. The pole snapped in half and it’s hanging from the power lines.

Alcohol is suspected in the crash, George said.

Both directions of Gettysburg Avenue are currently shut down. The northbound lane will reopen as soon as the wrecked vehicle is removed. The southbound lane will reopen after Dayton Power and Light crews replace the pole, George said.
