UPDATE: Winter storm prompts school closures, early dismissals

In addition to those area school closings, Bradford Schools in Miami County, Jefferson Township Schools and Liberty High School are closed today.

Brookville Local Schools, Cedar Cliff Local Schools, Dayton Christian School and Kettering College are going to be dismissed early.

Other schools scheduled for early release today are Lebanon City Schools, Sinclair Community College, Mad River Local Schools, Tecumseh Local Schools, Urbana University and Yellow Springs Schools.

Most schools across the region are either closed today or letting students out early as the season’s most significant weather event is poised to make travel difficult.

Dayton Public Schools informed its district residents via Facebook that the schools will be closed and all athletic events and extracurricular activities are cancelled because of inclement weather.

Chaminade Jullienne Catholic High School announced its closure via Facebook.

“The status of the men's basketball home games will be determined later in the day. Coaches will notify students about the status of any other afternoon activities,” according to C.J.’s post.

Beavercreek and Bellbrook-Sugarcreek schools have announced they will be operating on a two-hour early dismissal.

Kettering and Centerville school districts are operating normally today.

Other schools that have announced closures include Xenia Community Schools, Greenville City Schools and Huber Heights Schools.

Fairborn City Schools will be dismissing students two hours early and afternoon preschool is cancelled.

Rain is expected to turn to a wintry mix by mid-morning and then snow is expected to start to fall late this afternoon. Icy conditions are expected on the roadways as the temperatures drop.
