Miami Valley Hospital alerted police to a woman's report she was sexually assaulted at midday Monday in an alleyway in the area of Clover Street and Steele Avenue in Dayton.

The incident came to light when the 24-year-old woman went to the hospital to make the report, News Center 7's Sean Cudahy reported Thursday night.

A nurse at the hospital -- as all medical professionals are compelled by law to do -- called 9-1-1 because the case involved a sexual assault.

The nurse told the 9-1-1 emergency operator-dispatcher that an assault kit had been performed and that Dayton police should come and get it.

The nurse, in the 9-1-1 call, said the victim was refusing to speak with police, but told emergency room personnel she was attacked about lunchtime Monday, "around 12 or so."

"She said she fell backward, hit her head and doesn't remember what happened after but she remembers he was pulling down her pants. When she woke, he was running away," the nurse said in the 9-1-1 call.
