Woodman Drive bridge construction scheduled to kick off Tuesday

Signs are already posted warning Kettering drivers about a closure scheduled for Tuesday on Woodman Drive.

The complete closure, between Wilmington Pike and East Stroop Road, will allow crews to reconstruct the bridge over Little Beaver Creek.

While the closure may last up to 90 days, drivers said they’re thankful.

“You got to do whatever you got to do to maintain the roads and keep them in good condition,” said David Deweese, who lives just down the road from the bridge.

Deweese also said that the detour is relatively minor.

“We’ll just take Wilmington Pike over to where we get to instead of going down Woodman,” he said.

However, Nina Harris, who lives just a few feet away from the bridge, has some concerns.

“I just have to take a different route,” she said. “I hope we can cut through up there to get over to Stroop.”

The estimated $700,000-project is one of several bridges in the process of being replaced in Kettering.

The Montgomery County Engineer’s Office is urging drivers to pay attention and slow down as work gets underway.
