X-rays determined a 9-year-old girl, who initially thought she was injured by a falling tree branch, was actually shot Saturday night on Rugby Road in Dayton, according to a police incident report.
The child told Dayton police she was walking with a friend around 7 p.m. Sunday when she thought a tree branch hit her and injured her, the victim stated in the incident report. The child was taken to Miami Valley Hospital before being transferred to Dayton Children’s Hospital for treatment.
An x-ray taken at the hospital found the girl was shot and there was a bullet near her collarbone, officers stated in the incident report.
The child was listed as stable at the hospital, according to the report, however her exact condition was not immediately available.
The incident remains under investigation and additional details were not available.
