Luxury apartments opening in Huber Heights

DEPENDABLE COVERAGE

We first reported about the WaterStone project last year and have covered Carriage Trails for nearly a decade. Count on us for the latest on economic development in Huber Heights.

New luxury apartments are slated to open in Huber Heights by the end of the year, a local developer announced.

The 192-unit complex, called WaterStone at Carriage Trails, is under development by Miller-Valentine Group, which announced its intention to build the complex back in April 2015. The first units will be available by the end of the year, with the full development scheduled for a 2017 completion.

The complex is located at 1998 Persimmon Way in Huber Heights near the intersection of Interstate 70 and Ohio 201.

Luxury living in the north Dayton market “has been a long time coming,” said Dave Liette, Miller-Valentine president of multi-family development.

“We believe it’s going to be well received in the area,” Liette said, noting the development hopes to attract millennial workers, young couples with children and empty-nesters looking to downsize.

“This area deserves to have a nice luxury apartment community to live in,” he said.

Huber Heights City Manager Rob Schommer said he’s glad to see the Carriage Trails development’s vision coming to fruition. He said, “this particular project is an excellent endcap to the Carriage Trails development.”

“Originally, the master plan involved single-family homes, but it also involved a multi-family component,” Schommer said. “That was always part of the plan and certainly the single-family component took off and has been growing quite rapidly. Now this other component, the multi-family, is taking off with momentum.”

This is the second multi-family complex in the Carriage Trails development, Schommer said.

“I think it’s proof of our growth and our success as a community when the market says we need to build more residential units in our community,” Schommer said.

Liette said employment opportunities in the area demand new developments like WaterStone.

“There has been a lot of employment created in the north market over the last several years with distribution centers,” Liette said, noting the amenities in the area, such as the Kroger Aquatic Center and Huber Heights YMCA, have played into the decision to locate in Carriage Trails.

The WaterStone at Carriage Trails complex will feature units ranging from one to three bedrooms. Rent for one-bedroom units will begin at $911 per month. A two-bedroom unit’s rent starts at $1,100 per month, while a three-bedroom’s rent begins at $1,165 per month.

The complex will feature detached garages, and each apartment will feature a private balcony and laundry room. The community will also feature a pool, outdoor grilling area, 4,500-square-foot clubhouse, fitness center, private dog park and entertainment area available for private rental.
