Magnuson always said that he was not guilty, and on Tuesday a jury agreed with him. Magnuson is no longer facing any criminal charges and hopes that others will treat him that way.
“You have start all over, it seems like,” Magnuson said. “You have to prove who you are to the world. You have to prove it to your neighbors, not your friends, because you know who you are, but you have to be yourself again.”
It only took two hours for a jury to find the 41-year-old man not guilty on three counts of rape and six counts of gross sexual imposition.
Magnuson said, “The burden is off my family.”
Jay Adams was Magnuson’s attorney, and he said the “truth, quite frankly” is what made the difference in the case.
“There was a complete lack of evidence. When Magnuson testified he told the truth. When his family testified, they told the truth and I think that is what the jury focused on,” Adams said.
“I believe in the justice system. It’s there for a reason,” Magnuson said.
He told News Center 7 that he is not bitter about what happened, but considers the case in the past. His focus is now on his future with his family.
