Man Arrested After Robbing Jewlery Store

A Springfield man will spend Christmas in Jail.

Police said Aaron Wood, 30, broke into a Rolfes Jewelers on West Columbia Street around 4:30 a.m. Thursday.

Carlos Oxner and his fiancee Darshell said they shop at Rolfes and can’t believe someone tried to steal from them on Christmas Eve.

“They have a business to run and bills to pay. If you can’t afford to pay your bills, get a job, collect cans or do something,” said Darshell O’Bryant.

Police said Wood triggered an alarm while inside the store and when he walked out with a drawer full of items, police were waiting on him.

Police said Wood tossed the drawer, damaging a cruiser and ran. Police did catch up with him quickly.

Wood is being held in the Clark County Jail and he is charged with breaking and entering, resisting arrest and vandalism for damaging the police cruiser.
