Man Pinned Down, Face Slashed With Knife

Someone pinned a man to the ground and slashed his face with a knife.

Family members said the blade of the knife came just inches from hitting his jugular vein.

They also said that whoever did this, attacked the wrong person.

Dayton police responded to the call early Sunday morning. The victim and other family members were chased down by a group of people and they don't know why.

The victim's mother is so afraid after Sunday's attack she is concealing her identity.

"I don't know who they are or why they're attacking my kids, but in the meantime my son has at least 50 stitches in his face," said the woman. "I haven't slept in two days because I've been too nervous."

She said both her sons were injured.

"My one son is bleeding over his eye, and it looks like half his face is sliced open> My other son's nose looks like it's under his right eye," the woman said..

According to police, the 21-year-old man and his 16-year-old brother were among several people attacked in the area of North Main Street and Mary Avenue.

The victims took off running the attackers got out of a car, but the 21-year-old fell and a man punched him and pinned him to the ground.

According to police reports, the victim then felt what appeared to be a cut going across the right side of his face.

The victim's mother said, "He was cut from his neck all the way to the middle of his face. A centimeter deeper it would have cut his jugular."

His brother suffered from a broken nose. Their mother believes her sons were victims of mistaken identity.

Now she is afraid for her sons to leave their home, for fear that this could happen again.

Officers believe there were more than a dozen people who started the fight. If you know any information, you are urged to contact the Dayton Police Department.
