Man sentenced in co-suspect’s homicide

A man who tried to rob a Miami Twp. man with a knife last December was sentenced to 14 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated robbery.

Antonio Addison, 18, of Miamisburg, was found guilty for the stabbing death of Phillip Ochen. Montgomery County Prosecutor Mathias Heck said Ochen, Addison and another man, Juwaun Bateman entered an apartment on Knoll Ridge Drive in Miami Twp., intending to rob the man inside.

The intended victim, who was also armed with a knife, got into a fight with Ochen. The intended victim stabbed Ochen, killing him.

According to prosecutors, under Ohio law, Addison is culpable for any death that occurs during the commission of an aggravated robbery, including the death of his robbery accomplice.

The co-defendant, Bateman, was convicted of the same charges April 18.
