The driver, Anthony Mackenzie, 18, St. Marys was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.
State troopers assigned to the Wapakoneta Post said Mackenzie ran a stop sign, lost control of his car, hit a sign and flipped over several times. Mackenzie was thrown from the car to his death.
A passenger, Nick Fanning, 19, of St. Marys was injured. He was taken to a hospital in Lima.
According to troopers, excessive speed and the lack of the driver wearing a seatbelt appear to be contributing factors to the cause of death.
