LATEST: Authorities ID man killed when van falls on him in Ross Twp.

UPDATE @ 6:13 p.m.: Dennis Ross, 66, has been identified as the person killed, Ross Twp. police said.

UPDATE @ 4:01 p.m.

A man was killed today when a van on which he was working fell and came to rest on his head in Ross Twp., police said.

Crews were dispatched at about 2:45 p.m. today on a report of a person trapped under a vehicle. Police arrived to find that the man, who had been changing oil they believe, was under the Honda Odyssey after the jack failed, said Ross Twp. police Chief Darryl Haussler.

Officials transported the man to the nearest fire station and requested Air Care, but he was pronounced dead before the medical helicopter arrived, Haussler said.

A coroner’s office investigator is on the scene.

INITIAL REPORT 2:56 p.m.

A medical helicopter has been dispatched for a person trapped under a car at a home in the 2200 block of Cardinal Avenue in Ross Twp.

Butler County dispatchers confirmed a helicopter is on the way at around 2:45 p.m. but had no other details.
