Miami County GOP to meet to replace empty commission seat

The Miami County Republican Central Committee will meet Jan. 24 to appoint a person to fill the commission vacancy created by Bill Beagle’s decision to not take office following his election in November.

Beagle, a former state senator from Tipp City, said last month he would take a job with new State Treasuer Robert Sprague.

Registered Republicans interested in the seat are asked to submit a letter and resume by Jan. 21 to Post Office Box 662, Troy.

The commission seat was held previously by John “Bud” O’Brien of Monroe Twp. He did not seek reelection in 2018, instead running unsuccessfully for the 80th District State Representative seat.

The appointment will run through 2020 when the seat will be on the ballot for the remaining two years of the four-year term.

The committee will meet at the Concord Room in Troy.
