Miami Co. Partnership Results In Accessible Playground Equipment

Riverside of Miami County announced Tuesday that a wheelchair accessible swing and learning wall will be installed this week in Troy’s Duke Park and the Troy Community Park. The installation will take place based on the weather, according to Tim Mercer from the City of Troy.

After discussions between Kendra Allen, Riverside of Miami County Children’s program manager, and Troy city officials, a grant was requested and granted by The Troy Foundation for the swing and learning wall. All three entities involved are pleased to have this type of playground equipment installed in the City of Troy parks.

The grant was approved by the Troy Foundation distribution committee in December 2008 for this project at $9,901.

The mission of the Miami County Board of MRDD (Riverside of Miami County) is to empower children and adults with developmental disabilities to live, work and play as full members of the Miami County community.
