Miami also received high marks in six other categories. The university was named the No. 31 best public college in the country and Miami’s undergraduate teaching was ranked No. 5.
Around 1,388 schools are included in the ranking, according to U.S. News.
U.S. News surveyed more than 1,275 schools for statistical data used to determine the rankings and some additionally needed data was obtained through the National Center for Education Statistics. Information on financial resources, faculty, SAT and ACT scores, acceptance rates, six-year graduation rates and first-year retention rates were all considered, according to U.S. News.
