“We recently completed our CHAP/Medicare accreditation and are in the process of recruiting additional staffs to fill some open nursing, billing, compliance and management positions,” Akinyemi said.
Located at 6730 Roosevelt Ave., the company is hiring about 10 to 12 nurses and 10 to 15 caregivers. Staffers serve Delight Health Services' clients in Butler, Warren, Hamilton, Greene, Montgomery, Dearborn, Preble and Clermont counties.
We asked Akinyemi several questions about the company and its job growth. Here’s what he had to say:
Q: What’s the biggest challenge facing Delight and others in the health care industry and how is the company uniquely positioned to address that challenge?
“Major challenges we are facing (are) some local hospitals and clinics we expect to gain referrals from have their preferred home health agency. We are uniquely positioned to address the challenges we face because we are local, and not a satellite operation. We have close ties to the community, as residents, volunteers, and family business owner. We consider ourselves a reflection of the community, hence providing quality care is essential for us, as a business and as members of the community.
“Our mission is to enable seniors in our community live independently in their homes using a team-based, innovative approach. We provide person-centered care which are very responsive to the clients’ needs. We are constantly developing new measurement indicators to ensure we are being effective and are prioritizing quality standards.”
Q: What’s the most prevalent roadblock you encounter when it comes to hiring and what can job seekers do to remedy that situation?
“We have capable and experienced nurses who are always willing to help other nurses grow. The most prevalent roadblock we face is finding caregivers with great flexibility. Some of our clients needs care for a couple to few hours, but caregivers are looking for extended hours, which makes the service difficult to provide staffing for.
“We are willing to offer incentives to caregivers who are willing to be flexible with our needs so we can provide quality care that our clients need.”
Q: What’s the vision for Delight’s growth, both jobs and otherwise, for the next five years?
A: “We seek to be a household name and standard for quality. We want to help reduce hospital admission rates in our community, improve quality of life and help our clients get more involved in community life. We also want to extend our hand of partnership to local colleges, take on new hires and give constant feedback on how their curriculum can be improved to produce premium-ready graduates.”
Q: Some job seekers are concerned about the limits of advancement within a company. To what degree can Delight employees advance from entry-level roles?
A: “We have two nurses on staff that are also nurse practitioners, and one almost completing her doctorate degree. They are always willing to take nurses under their wings and help them blossom professionally. We are also getting some publicity which will open doors for more positions.
“We just hired a business development manager who has done a fantastic job with recruitment and outreach. As we continue to stay committed to providing quality care and staying in compliance, we are not looking to commoditize care but seeking bright people to join us and help make our community great.”
