The investigation began Oct. 22 after officers were advised that Monue, of the 300 block of South High Street, had given birth to a child about three months earlier. Believing the child was a stillborn, she buried the remains, according to reports.
Police said Monue admitted to everything and even led officers to the bridge where she re-buried the baby’s body, which was wrapped in plastic bags.
Daly told News Center 7 on Monday that by law, in order to charge Monue with neglect, it has to be proven that the baby was alive when born. But, he said, the autopsy can’t discern one way or another whether it was.
He said information is still being gathered to see what charges Monue could face.
