7 (more) things you can’t see quite this way except from overhead

Earlier this month we introduced a photo feature, "18 peculiar views of Dayton you can only see from overhead."

Because of its popularity, we’re adding to it.

Here are seven more views of the region that can’t be seen except from directly above:

Development in Beavercreek

In the continuing quest to find interesting views from the air, I noticed a new development on Indian Ripple Road in Beavercreek. The land has been graded and new roads paved. The drone flight revealed interesting man made shapes in the landscape.

Site of 1967 Champaign County plane crash

I’ve also found that late winter can offer unobstructed views of wooded areas that would otherwise be hidden by the tree canopy. Photographing a 50-year-old airplane crash site in Champaign County offered just this type of view.

Deck of aquatic center

While looking at the Grange Hall Skate Park, I noticed the pond behind the Dayton Raiders Aquatic Center which revealed an interestingly shaped deck along the edge.

Hewitt Soap Factory ruins

Ruins of the former Hewitt Soap Factory leave much to be studied in shape and color. Rusty beams, pipes and tanks are twisted with charred timbers and brick rubble.

Spring Valley Wildlife Area

The Spring Valley Wildlife Area was surprisingly full of pattern, texture and color in February.

New Oakwood sports facility

Oakwood’s new Lane Stadium was built to accommodate soccer, field hockey, lacrosse and track, resulting in many lines and shapes in different colors contrasted in the green synthetic turf.

Major interchange

The U.S. 35 and I-675 interchange shows different stages of road improvement through the color of the paving material. The newest asphalt is black with older lanes on I-675 looking like the concrete on the bridge.
