An 81-year-old grandmother returned home Saturday night for Mother's Day after a two-month fight with the coronavirus.
Friends and family surprised Maxine Hare as she arrived home. Despite her tough fight, her spirit and sense of humor never left.
"I didn't know I had so many friends," Hare told WSOC-TV.
Her son Terance Hare was thankful his mother was home.
"This is the best Mother's Day ever," he told WSOC-TV. "Nothing else will top it."
There are 14,773 confirmed cases and 556 deaths from the coronavirus in North Carolina, according to The New York Times.
