Coronavirus: Drivers stop to pick up 1,000 face masks thrown from truck onto California highway

Drivers stopped traffic along a California freeway to pick up surgical masks that were thrown from a truck Wednesday afternoon.

About 1,000 face masks, which have become a sought-after commodity, were thrown from a truck around 1:40 p.m., KPIX reported.

Authorities were called after witnesses saw a truck stopped and a white or Hispanic male was seen on the bed throwing boxes of masks onto the freeway, KPIX reported.

The California Highway Patrol stopped traffic so street sweepers could collect the medical masks.
