Company officials said it was a voluntary decision.
Cruises that had been scheduled to depart on March 12 through May 10 are impacted.
More than 50,000 people sail on Princess Cruises daily, according to company data.
If a cruise is already in the middle of a voyage, they will continue for the next five days with their current itinerary. Ones that continue past March 17 will “be ended at the most convenient location for guests, factoring in operational requirements,” the company said.
Princess Cruises is allowing its guests to transfer all money paid for a canceled cruise to a future one of their choice. They will also get other benefits like credits that can be used for the cruise fare or onboard expenses. If a passenger decided to cancel their cruise on or after Feb. 4, a future cruise credit will be able to be used on any trip through May 1, 2022.
If cruise credits are not an option for some guests, they can fill out a form for a cash refund.
