She is unable to perform at an opera house because of quarantine restrictions, but a San Diego woman is now singing from her front porch every Sunday.

Social distancing has not silenced a San Diego opera singer, who gave a live concert from her front porch for the second straight Sunday.

Victoria Robertson cannot perform on stage because of the coronavirus pandemic, but her noon concerts have given her a chance to practice. And, it gives her a chance to bring some joy to her neighbors.

"Live music is so important to people," Robertson told KNSD. "Artists have lost their performance contracts, but that does not mean that someone with a gift should not use it to lift people up and enhance their lives just a little."

On Easter Sunday, Robertson performed a "Separate But Together" concert at noon, singing 20 minutes of Easter songs from her porch, which is located 20 feet from the street, KUSI reported.

A crowd spread along the sidewalk to listen, keeping 8 feet distance between each other, the television station reported. Robertson sang, accompanied by backing tracks played on a speaker. But Robertson did not need a microphone, as her voice carried onto the street.

"I was quite overcome looking down on my neighbors spread out all the way down the block with their masks on," Robertson told KNSD. "It was one of the most moving performance experiences I have ever had," she said.

Because of the positive response she received, Robertson said she will sing every Sunday until quarantines are lifted, the television station reported.
