"It's a tiny apartment," Pappas' fiance, Ilias Vissarioui, told KTRK. Vissarioui discovered the break-in at the Houston complex. He and Pappas were both at work when the break-in occurred.
Pappas’ car was stolen from the apartment complex’s garage in January, and Vissarioui’s car was also vandalized.
"This year has been terrible," Pappas told KTRK. "They broke into the garage in January and they broke into Ilias' car, and stole my car, and it was found destroyed the next day."
Despite the personal losses, Pappas said she has found some solace helping to battle the coronavirus. She has been working in her hospital’s COVID-19 unit the past five weeks.
"I was really, really proud to be able to do something for people, to be there during this ... and doing things that were helping people," Pappas told KTRK.
