Coronavirus: Walmart joins list of stores starting senior-only shopping hours

Retail giant Walmart is the latest chain to introduce hours set aside for senior citizens because of the COVID-19 pandemic. On Wednesday, the company announced that every Tuesday the store will open one hour earlier for customers aged 60 and older.

The special shopping hour will start on March 24 and will continue every week until April 28.

The chain's pharmacies and vision centers will also be open during the senior-only time, the company said in a press release.

As for the operating hours, Walmart will be open from 7 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., while stores that normally open after 7 a.m. will continue to operate at their normal time.

But while the stores are slashing open hours for customers, workers will have access to their full, normal shifts, Walmart said.

The company’s Auto Care Centers will be closed and those employees will be used to stock and clean the stores.
