Even in the darkest days, sometimes there is still hope.

Eric and Faith Johnson had lost their home in Cookeville, Tennessee, because of an EF-4 March 3, WKRN reported.

They were alerted about the storm before it hit by their dog Bella. The family took shelter in their bathtub moments before the storm destroyed the home, WTVF reported.

When the storm cleared, Bella was nowhere to be found. They would search the neighborhood, leaving clothing hoping Bella would find the scent after neighbors said they had seen the shepherd.

The Johnsons had received word Friday through a friend about where Bella was seen. Trail cameras were set up to find out where Bella had been hiding, between two buildings. Food was left, the exit from the alleyway was blocked and Bella was captured, WTVF reported.

Bella was returned to Eric and Faith Johnson 54 days after she was lost, WKRN reported.

The family plans on rebuilding on the same site where their house once stood, WTVF reported.
