An Indiana man suspected of drunken driving was arrested Sunday morning after crashing a truck into a liquor store, authorities said.

Michael Stowers, 23, of Valparaiso, was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, according to the Indiana State Police.

Shortly after 8 a.m., police received a call that a Ford F-150 had crashed into the Brookston Spirits Liquor Store, WXIN reported.

When police arrived they found Stowers crawling out of the truck, WISH-TV reported. Authorities said Stowers refused a field sobriety test, but police were later granted a search warrant for a blood test, according to WXIN.

Emergency medical service personnel were called to the scene, but Stowers refused medical treatment, according to a news release by Indiana State Police.

Stowers was taken to the White County Jail, where he remains pending his initial hearing, WISH reported.
