An Indiana man attacked a neighbor with a weed wacker during an argument Thursday over grass clippings being left in the street, officials said.

Vanderburgh County Sheriff's deputies said Gail Kammerer III was weed eating a ditch on one side of the road when his neighbor Russell Roth became upset about the grass clippings being flung into the street.

In response, Roth, 57, began driving a riding lawn mower in an attempt to blow the clippings back toward Kammerer prompting the attack, investigators said.

Kammerer, 48, charged at Roth, who was shirtless with the weed wacker, and cut Roth several times on his back, deputies said.

Roth refused medical treatment. He was cited for provocation.

Kammerer was arrested and charged with battery with a deadly weapon, officials said.
