Update 12:31 p.m. EST Feb. 9: New York police said they arrested a man Sunday in connection with the shootings of two police officers in the Bronx, WPIX reported.
In a news conference Sunday morning, NYPD Commissioner Dermot Shea said the suspect served time in prison for attempted murder and was paroled in 2017, WCBS reported.
A male lieutenant was shot in the arm and rushed to an area hospital and is expected to survive, according to the NYPD. Another officer is also being treated for minor injuries, WABC reported. One of the officers was released from an area hospital early Sunday afternoon, MSNBC reported.

Update 9:25 a.m. EST Feb. 9: The lieutenant was shot four blocks from Saturday's attack, WNBC reported. The gunman walked into a Bronx precinct, fired at officers and then placed his gun on the floor and surrendered, the television station reported.
Sunday's incident occurred around 8 a.m., WPIX reported.
Police said they believe Sunday's shooter was the same man who ambushed two police officers Saturday night in the Bronx, WCBS reported.

At a news conference late Saturday Police Commissioner Dermot Shea called the shooting “an assassination attempt at two New York City police officers.”
Mayor Bill de Blasio agreed.
“I want New Yorkers to be clear, this was an attempt to assassinate police officers. Out in the open, an individual walked up to a police van with the intention of killing police officers," de Blasio told reporters. “This is absolutely unacceptable in this city or any place. In this country, anywhere in this world.”
Original report: A man walked up to a New York police van parked in the Bronx around 8:30 p.m. and started a conversation by asking for directions before opening fire on the officer and then running away, WABC reported.

The officer was grazed in the face by a bullet, WNYW reported.
The officer, a six-year veteran of the department, was driven by his partner to a hospital for treatment. He is alert, talking and expected to survive, WABC reported.
Police are still searching for the shooter, who is described as dressed in black and wearing a black hat.
