Authorities in North Carolina said they rescued a deer that was stuck in a mud hole Saturday, according to the Morrisville Police Department's Facebook page.

Morrisville Fire and police said they were called to Mason Farm/Ferntree, where they found the deer trapped.

"We are certainly accustomed to rescuing ducklings from drains and otherwise keeping our furry critters safe. However, this was one for the books!" the police department said in a Facebook post.

Officers said with a little creativity and a few pallets, they were able to rescue the deer.

"Clearly taking social distancing to the extreme," police said in the post. "Just one of the many things that makes our jobs worth it!"
