Uber to suspend driver, rider accounts over coronavirus

Uber will suspend driver and rider accounts who have been exposed to or test positive for the coronavirus, company officials said on Wednesday.

Drivers who are diagnosed with COVID-19 are eligible to receive; 14 days of financial assistance.

"We've already helped drivers in some affected areas, and we're working to quickly implement this worldwide," company officials said in a statement.

The company is consulting with health officials on its response.

They are sending disinfectants to drivers in cities with the greatest need and offering a leave-at-door policy for food delivery.

"We're also consulting with an epidemiologist to make sure our efforts as a company are grounded in medical advice," officials said in a statement.
