While bone-chilling cold continues to grip much of the Northeast, one New Year's Day tradition continued Monday despite the frigid temperatures.

The famed annual Coney Island Polar Bear Club's New Year's Day plunge took place as scheduled.

Hundreds started off 2018 by jumping into the freezing waters of the Atlantic Ocean, despite forecasts of only a 19 degree high.
