This was quite a fish tale. In fact, the fish’s tail was almost bigger than the angler.

A 9-year-old Tennessee boy reeled in a sturgeon that weight nearly 80 pounds, WKRN reported.

According to the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, Coye Price caught the 79.8-pound fish on Old Hickory Lake, a reservoir that is part of the Cumberland River northeast of Nashville.

The agency posted photos of the catch on its Facebook page. According to the post, Coye was fishing on Spencer Creek in 25 feet of water. The sturgeon dwarfed the catches of his sisters -- Caitlin caught a 39.8-pound striper, while Farrah reeled in a 58-pound blue catfish.

The lake sturgeon is potentially one of the largest living fish in Tennessee, the agency said. The fish can weigh up to 300 pounds, grow to 8 feet in length and live 150 years,

After snapping photos, the huge fish was released back into the lake, according to the TWRA.
