It's opening day today for an Oxford brewpub that is already looking to add locations in the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus area.

Scotty's Brewhouse opens its doors to the public at 11 a.m. today, Monday Jan. 23, at 325 S. College Ave. near the Miami University campus in Oxford. The brewpub seats more than 200 and opens with more than 80 employees, and it serves lunch and dinner seven days a week, according to Scott Wise, founder of the brewpub chain and of its affiliated brewery, Indianapolis-based Thr3e Wise Men Brewing Co.

“It is still our intention to expand in the Dayton, Cincinnati and Columbus” markets, Wise said. No leases have been signed yet, and Columbus will likely be the first expansion target, he said.

The Oxford location will be the 19th for Scotty’s Brewhouse. There are 15 Scotty’s Brewhouse pubs in Indiana, one in Florida, and one in Illinois.

Wise remains active with the company he founded after selling Scotty's Brewhouse just last month to a subsidiary of Scottsdale, Arizona-based Due North Holdings, a sale that will accelerate growth of the brewpub chain, according to this news release on the ScottysBrewhouse.com web site.

Wise opened his first pub in 1996 at the age of 22, and launched a brewery in 2011. The Oxford location is still awaiting the necessary licenses and approvals to brew beer on-site. Plans call for the Oxford brewpub to produce a small portion of the pub’s beers, which will include beers brewed by Thr3e Wise Men’s main brewery as well as from other craft breweries around the country.

"About eight taps will be ours, and the other 22 will be guest beers," Wise told this news outlet Aug. 1.

The pub’s food menu focuses on pizza and burgers, including a signature burger that is topped by peanut butter, cheddar cheese, jalapenos and bacon. Scotty’s also offers an extensive gluten-free menu and a children’s menu.

The Oxford brewpub will offer weekend brunch, and growler refills and catering are available. Plans are in the works for a four-day Valentine’s Day weekend special meal, special offers on wings for Super Bowl parties, and a special Fat Tuesday menu, Wise said.
