2 new businesses are filling spaces in Hamilton’s High Street corridor

Hamilton’s busy High Street corridor is welcoming two new businesses.

The Fringe Coffee House is hoping to open at 918 High Street by the end of February or the beginning of March, according to owner Patrick Davis.

The new business will serve all-organic breakfast burritos, oatmeal, pastries and homemade organic waffles for breakfast. Lunch and dinner will consist of organic soups, sandwiches and salads.

Available drinks will include coffee, lattes, espresso, tea, chai and fresh organic fruit smoothies and vegetable smoothies.

The Fringe Coffee House will only employ ex-felons returning to society after prison, according to Davis, who serves with his wife as pastors of The Fringe Church.

“We run a weekly faith-based music therapy program in Lebanon Correctional Institution and Dayton Correctional Institution,” he said. “This program is an outreach of the church (and) has had an incredible long-term impact on those involved and we have done re-entry work with them as well.”

Davis said the coffee shop seemed like “the next step.”

“We really believe this is going to be an amazing coffee house and a positive addition to downtown Hamilton and the residents of Hamilton,” Davis said. “I run a painting and remodeling business that does high-end remodels as well as historical restoration, and I always tell people we believe in transforming buildings and houses while at the same time transforming lives.”

Renovations should be completed by the middle of February.

Balloon Gallery & Gifts' opening at 228 High St. fills a space vacated by Art Off Symmes at the end of 2017.

The new business provides a variety of balloon ideas for any birthday, anniversary, banquet, reception, baby/bridal shower, holiday, event, grand opening and parties of all sorts. Ideas range from gift bouquets, columns, arches, tunnels, walls, frames, centerpieces and elaborate, rarely seen designs in a wide array of colors and styles.

That includes larger-than-life photo frames, Cinderella carriages, Eiffel Towers, football helmets, full walls, themed characters, and a wide variety of other options.

All designs are handcrafted by certified balloon artists within the store, including owner Janine Mock, of Hamilton, or at the site of the event for larger pieces.

The store’s hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. A ribbon-cutting is set for 11 a.m. Wednesday.
