“The decision to close this location was based on an unsuccessful lease negotiation — we could not reach new lease terms that were favorable for both sides of the partnership,” Daryl Beckles, human resource director for the Cincinnati-based Bistro Group, told this news outlet on Sept. 5 regarding the Huber Heights location. “We are very sad to see this location close after many years of success.”

The Bistro Group is the franchise owner of the Huber Heights and Dayton Mall locations as well as the Beavercreek restaurant near the Mall at Fairfield Commons. The Beavercreek location is staying open and has absorbed some of the employees at the two restaurants that shut down.
The closing of the Huber Heights restaurant affects 48 employees, Beckles said. The closing of the Dayton Mall location will impact more than 50 employees, she said.

“We offered some of them positions based on our current staffing needs (at other TGI Fridays locations), and some of the remaining team members were offered a severance,” the HR director said Tuesday in reference to the Huber Heights closure. “These decisions are never easy on our team members, and we do try to make the transition as seamless as possible for both our team members and managers.”

A TGI Fridays in the Polaris center in Columbus shut down in the spring. Several casual-dining chains, including Applebees and Max & Erma’s, have shut down locations in recent years in the Dayton area.
