New Information In The Murdered Marine Case

Investigators in North Carolina have released new information about the evidence in the murder of Marine Lance Corporal Maria Lauterbach, formerly of Dayton. Her body was found in January in a fire pit in the backyard of another Marine.

Police said they found a melted plastic bag containing an item of baby clothing with the charred remains of Lauterbach, who was pregnant. The clothing was labeled "size o-3 months."

An autopsy determined neither gender regarding the unborn child. Lauterbach's family said the baby was a boy and he was buried with her.

Investigators are looking for Marine Corporal Cesar Laurean, who has been charged with murder. Lauterbach had accused Laurean of raping her last May while they were stationed at Camp LeJeune.
