New $3M spa in Butler County to open in time for the holidays

A new spa less than half a mile west of Liberty Center will make its debut in time for the holiday season.

The structure rising at 7272 Liberty Way will open in mid-November as the third Southwest Ohio location of The Woodhouse Day Spa and the next stage in transforming the formerly residential-only area along the northern portion of the road into a mainly commercial landscape.

The new location will be the spa’s first standalone location of the its 65 locations nationwide, according to Chris Mann, owner of locations in the Hamilton County suburb of Montgomery and The Greene Towne Center in Beavercreek, as well as the regional developer for Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania and North Carolina locations.

The new location represents a more than $3 million investment into the Liberty/West Chester area, including a 2017 property purchase for $700,000.

Mann said the site is “perfect” for a Woodhouse Day Spa standalone structure because it is directly between the spa’s Cincinnati and Dayton area locations. The Liberty Twp. location will be almost double the size of both those locations, he said.

“The idea is to have a larger, standalone location that we can use for some our larger groups and parties that we just can’t accommodate at our smaller lifestyle center locations,” Mann said.

Hiring of 25 employees is expected to start in late September, but will eventually expand to more than 60 employees, he said.

Mann said he considers Woodhouse to be distinctive because of it luxury, unmatched customer service and because it is “a resort-destination spa, but in your own backyard.”

“We look at ourselves as slotting between a massage clinic that you might find in a strip mall and a Ritz Carlton,” he said. “We’re much nicer than a clinic and as nice as a Ritz Carlton but without the pools and the Jacuzzi and all that stuff.”

The spa will feature Victorian decor, plus 15 private guest treatment rooms, men’s & women’s quiet rooms, duet massage rooms, bath & massage room, a manicure/pedicure room and more. Available services will include massages, body treatments, aromatherapy baths, waxing, facials, manicures and pedicures.

The spa’s community involvement already does a “ton” of work with non-profit organizations like Susan G. Komen, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Dragonfly Foundation. It is looking into partnering with the Wounded Warrior Project, he said.

“When we opened our business, it wasn’t about making money, it was about providing people an escape and who needs an escape more than people that are going through times,” Mann said. “We love to provide opportunities to those folks as much as possible and that’s always been one of our core values.”
