“You know he’s is not going to beat Boehner.” Before I could speak, my friend continued: “I’ll say this, though. Coussoule isn’t an empty shirt like the Dems usually run against Boehner.”
My GOP friend and I do not agree politically on much. But we do seem to agree on this: Justin Coussoule is not an empty shirt. He’s the real thing: West Point graduate, man with small business experience, lawyer, communicator, someone of substance who can hold his own, which is why (John) Boehner probably won’t debate him. What my friend does not know, but would if he heard Justin Coussoule speak, is that the former army captain is articulate, thoughtful, and not driven by ideology, but rather by logic, a sense of fair play and a concern for the greater good of America.
Justin Coussoule is no empty shirt. Neither is he a shirt stuffed with a fervent need to maintain political power after 20 years, like Boehner, who continues to make decisions on autopilot, regardless of how they affect the majority of folks in Ohio’s 8th Congressional District. Health care benefits for all? No. Financial benefits for corporations? Yes. Tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans? Yes. Golf? Of course.
The majority of Americans, and we count ourselves among them, are not wealthy. We want the economy back on track. We want a strong infrastructure. We want people working at jobs that pay their bills. We want affordable health care for everyone. We want new representation for District 8. We want to elect Justin Coussoule to Congress. He’ll replace a shirt that’s been empty for many years.
