Enseleit’s appointment became official effective Jan. 1, as he will replace Dr. Richard Garrison, who served as commissioner from 2008 through 2018. The position is part-time, and Enseleit will be paid $4,200 per year.
Oakwood operates its own local health district, and the Oakwood Board of Health is established by the city charter. The health commissioner is appointed by the city manager and reports to the board of health.
Enseleit is an emergency medicine physician for Emergency Medicine Specialists, serving in patient care throughout the Kettering Health Network, and in a leadership role within the emergency department at Kettering Medical Center. He earned a bachelor’s in Chemical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University and earned his MD from the University of Cincinnati. He is licensed by the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
City Manager Norbert Klopsch said Enseleit understands how to deal with the needs of the community.
“We are very pleased to appoint Dr. Enseleit to the Health Commissioner position and look forward to working with him in operating our local health district, and in addressing the public health issues that arise in our Oakwood community,” Klopsch said. “Dr. Enseleit has strong credentials and, as a resident of Oakwood, has a good understanding of our community needs.”
