Ohio is among more than two dozen states where discrimination in housing and employment against gay and lesbian people is legal but state Rep. Nickie Antonio, who is openly gay, says it’s time to change that.

Ohio Lobby Day brings activists to state capital

Self-described citizen lobbyists descended on the Ohio State House for Ohio Lobby Day, an event organized by Innovation Ohio and ProgressOhio.

State progressive groups publicized their causes on Twitter with the hashtag #OHLobbyDay. The website RiseStronger.com described the event, which was a combination of demystifying the legislative progress and teach the process of how to influence the political process and get laws passed.

Rise Stronger describes itself as a “watchdog organization in the United States empowering Americans to monitor and take action in response to the Trump Administration, Congress, and state and local governments.”
