Trooper Jacob Daymon, 30, has been taken off the road and placed on administrative duty since last week. He will remain on administrative duty until the grand jury reaches a decision, according to OSHP.
Daymon, who was sworn into the agency in 2007, has no prior work related crashes, according to OSHP.
“His disciplinary record is clear,” Ralston said. “If it was a chargeable crash it would show up in his disciplinary record.”
After the grand jury makes a determination, a state highway patrol six-member crash committee will review the crash reports to determine if the collision was preventable, Ralston said.
Daymon, who works at the state highway patrol Xenia post, was on duty and traveling on US 35 when his patrol vehicle struck two people on a motorcycle near New Jasper Station Road.
The driver, Corey Waldman, and his passenger, Amy Waldman, were thrown from the motorcycle. They were transported to Miami Valley Hospital where they were treated.
The driver and passenger, Beavercreek residents, were wearing helmets.
