Old DP&L Plant Demolished

Demolition of an old Dayton Power and Light plant started on Tuesday. The demolition took place at the old Longworth Steam Plant, which is located at the corner of Franklin and Perry streets.

Chaminade-Julienne High School accepted the 3.8-acre piece of land as a gift from DP&L.

School administrators said they are still working on a campus plan for the property. According to school officials, the building houses a significant amount of steel, which the school plans to keep and sell in order to offset the cost of the demolition.
