Thoughts on Deflate Gate

With only six days away from the Super Bowl XLIX, almost everyone I’m talking with has strong opinions about “Deflate Gate.”

Some people are appalled that the New England Patriots — who were busted videotaping signals from New York Jets coaches 2007 — may have conducted bad sportsmanship again by under-inflating their footballs to beat the Indianapolis Colts during the AFC Championship game. They think Patriots coach Bill Belichick’s meteorological explanation of “climatic conditions” causing the mysterious deflation is laughable and want the Pats to be punished. In “Spygate,” the Pats did lose a first-round draft pick the next year, fined $250,000 and Belichick the league maximum $500,000.

Other people think that America and the media are making a big deal out of nothing, and that the scandal is distraction as the Pats prepare to play reigning champs Seattle Seahawks.
