Last week’s discussion about voter education drew a thoughtful note from Susan Hesselgesser, executive director of the League of Women Voters of the Greater Dayton Area. She says, in part:
“The League gets hundreds of calls during an election season from voters who want information on candidates and issues. With the current redistricting lines and an incredible amount of uncontested races, some candidates have little reason to establish a website, knock on doors with campaign literature or meet personally with voters. The good news is that people are not racing to the polls to cast votes for candidates and issues they know nothing about. …Voters do care, they want to be informed and they want to vote.
