Reader: UD should dream big

I recently took the University of Dayton Arena Survey. It was well designed and allowed me to look at a number of seating arrangements, seating views, parking options and a variety of different amenities at each seating configuration. With each of my preferences it probed for the amount I would be willing to pay for the seat locations I preferred. I think it will provide very useful data regarding season ticket holder preferences.

The survey never asked whether a completely new arena was an option. Perhaps UD has already ruled that out. In the comment section I shared some of my dad’s advice when I was searching for a new house. “If you buy an old house and fix it up, you still have an old house.”

I would encourage the athletic director to be a risk-taker and dream like Thomas J. Frericks and propose building a brand new arena with double the current seating capacity. After all, Frericks built a brand new arena with five times the capacity of the old Fieldhouse. And by the way, the old Fieldhouse is still being used today. We don't get opportunities like this very often. Dream big! — DAN HILL, GERMANTOWN

Any Republican with a track record for trouble as extensive as Hillary Clinton's would have been destroyed by the media, and the party, long ago. In the case of the emails, the media would have also gone after the administration. How long will we have to put up with the charade that Hillary is a viable candidate for POTUS?

Even if Donald Trump gets the Republican nomination for president, we can only hope that there are not enough right wing nuts to elect a person like him to be the President of the United States of America — the greatest nation ever conceived.
