UPDATE @ 7:20 a.m. (Sept. 1)

A Moraine business was destroyed by a fire early Thursday morning.

Fire crews encountered heavy smoke and intense heat when arrived to the scene at Patriot’s Pub & Coffee Shop in the 3000 block of Dryden Road around 4:15 a.m., officials said.

The fire is believed to have been between two roofs on the business — a gravel roof on the bottom and a shingled roof on top — and crews were not able to get to the flames.

Officials said the cause is unknown and the fire may have started in the kitchen. The fire started a couple hours after the business closed for the night.

No one was inside at the time the fire started, and no one was injured.
